The International Conference on Sustainability Education Development 2023 (ICSED 2023), hosted by Universiti Malaya, served as a prestigious international platform for educators, researchers, and policymakers to discuss how education can contribute to achieving sustainable development goals. This annual conference brought together leading academics, practitioners, and students from across the region to exchange ideas, share research findings, and explore innovative approaches to sustainability in education.

In this significant academic event, the Master of English Education Study Program, Universitas Tanjungpura, made a notable contribution by sending a delegation of 30 presenters, consisting of 28 master’s students and 2 distinguished lecturers. Their active participation reflects the program’s strong commitment to advancing educational research, fostering academic excellence, and building international collaborations in the field of education and sustainability.

The 28 master’s students proudly presented their research papers, which covered a diverse range of topics including innovative English language teaching methodologies, the integration of sustainability principles into language education, digital and technology-enhanced learning, and the role of education in fostering environmentally responsible communities. This opportunity allowed the students to not only showcase their academic work but also gain valuable feedback from international experts, enhancing their professional development and confidence in academic discourse.

Accompanying the students were two highly respected lecturers:

  • Dr. Y. Gatot Sutapa Yuliana, M.Pd.
  • Dr. Regina, M.Pd.

Both lecturers actively contributed to the conference by sharing their expertise and research findings, further enriching the discussions and reinforcing the presence of Universitas Tanjungpura on an international academic stage. Their participation also served as an inspiration for the students, demonstrating the importance of continuous research and scholarly engagement beyond the classroom.

The involvement of the Master of English Education Study Program at ICSED 2023 underscores the program’s vision to produce globally aware, research-driven, and sustainability-oriented educators. By engaging in international forums like this, the program strengthens its academic network, enhances the quality of its research and teaching, and reaffirms its role as a key contributor to educational innovation in Indonesia and beyond.

Furthermore, this participation highlights the importance of encouraging graduate students to actively join international academic activities, as such experiences equip them with critical thinking, presentation, and cross-cultural communication skills—essential qualities for future educators and researchers.

The Universitas Tanjungpura community takes pride in this achievement and looks forward to greater contributions from its students and lecturers in future international conferences, continuing the journey toward excellence in research, teaching, and global engagement.
